0) Why replace your HDD?

Tiered of waiting for windows to start up? Or explorer search commands? Or the laptop to respond anyway when multitasking?

Then replace your harddrive by a SSD (Solid State Disk). These disk are affordable now (f.e 120 GB for about 50 to 70 Euro).

In this blog I explain how I replaced my disk including migration of all data by using free software.

=>  difference mainly in reading data; 4K read speed gain is spectacular: 58 X faster !

My experience using the SSD now:

• up to 4 times faster startup and shutdown;
• much faster startup of large programs like open office;
• very responsive operating system even with heavy multitasking: no more waiting for the laptop to respond;
